FANTASY BLITZ: Fantasy News & Notes Week 17

FANTASY BLITZ: Fantasy News & Notes Week 17   Cardinals John Skelton will start at quarterback Sunday against the Seahawks Falcons; team is saying Michael Turner will get his same workload, but my bet is Jacquizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling share snaps Panthers, Congratulations to Cam Newton for breaking the rushing touchdown record for quarterbacks with 14 this year, Steve Grogan a rookie with the Patriots in 1976 had set the record with twelve in a 14 game season. Grogan was the last QB to call his own plays full time in 1990, the last of the true Old School quarterbacks and was always a class player. Bengals passing matchup is favorable against the Ravens this week, Andy Dalton, Jermaine Gresham, and AJ Green should have solid statistics Browns, Seneca Wallace gets the start Sunday against the at quarterback, his mobility makes him a better fantasy QB than Colt McCoy Patriots, RB Stevan Ridley the last two weeks has averaged 5 yards a carry compared to BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Ridley should find the goal line this we...

Fantasy News and Notes Week 16

Fantasy News and Notes Week 16 Congratulations, if your team is still playing, that means you should be playing for a championship. For newer players and leagues this is the first time in years where we were not wondering if some star fantasy players were going to sit or play because their teams had wrapped up home field for the playoffs. That was always the case for the past several years with Peyton Manning, as we all know he is sitting for different causes in 2011. With playoff seeds still very much up in the air, your players should be taking the field this week barring being slowed by injuries.    Cardinals, RB Chris Wells fantasy statistics have slowed some recently….try to avoid playing him this week against the Bengals, who are playing the run tough in recent weeks Bills,  CJ Spiller has averaged ninety nine yards in his four starts for Fred Jackson and has scored three touchdowns….the Broncos have allowed a 100 yard running back in five of their last 7 games Panthers, TE ...

Week 15 Fantasy Notes & Positional Rankings

Week 15 Fantasy Notes & Positional Rankings Panthers, Panthers have never won at Reliant Stadium, losing a regular season game in 2003 there, and later that season they lost SB XXXIII to the Patriots Bengals, WR Jerome Simpson has had five 100 yard receiving games in his brief NFL career, he faces a Ram pass defense that is allowing the fifth most fantasy points to wide receivers Cowboys, Tony Romo has 5 scoring throws and no interceptions his last 2 games….he has great match up against the Buccaneers 27th ranked pass defense this week….although Miles Austin is back WR Laurent Robinson will still get targets Broncos,   during the last three weeks, WR Demaryius Thomas has caught three of Tim Tebow’s 4 touchdown passes Lions, RB Kevin Smith will start against a below average Raider run defense Packers, WR Gregg Jennings might miss just two weeks with his injured knee but that all but ends any fantasy value he had Houston, While RB Arian Foster is on the top of my running back rankings this week, ...

Week 13: Fantasy News, Notes & Positional Rankings

Week 13: Fantasy News, Notes & Positional Rankings Fantasy News and Notes     Cardinals, QB Kevin Kolb will play Sunday against the Cowboys…. ending John Skelton’s career Ravens, The Browns have the top ranked pass defense in the NFL…which is why their run defense is 29th. Ray Rice is an automatic start but if you need a RB this week, take Ricky Williams Panthers, The Panthers have the most favorable rushing match up of the week, facing the Buccaneers 30th ranked run defense, DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, and Cam Newton will have a solid fantasy day Bears, Jay Cutler admitted that he is done for the season; the pins that were inserted into his thumb could be there for 10 weeks….the Bears will ride Caleb Hanie as far as he can take them  Browns, RB Peyton Hillis will start against the Ravens…on paper a tough match up but he was 22-144 and a score in their first game against the Ravens last year Cowboys, Jerry Jones said WR Miles Austin will play this week, bold statement...

FANTASY BLITZ: News, Notes & a Trip Down Memory Lane

Plus positional rankings
FANTASY BLITZ: News, Notes & a Trip Down Memory Lane When you view this week’s NFL Schedule, the Rams at the Browns appear to be one of the few games that will have no playoff implications. While that is true, these teams have a rich history of not only sharing the same city but facing each other in three classic title games in the 1950’s The Cleveland Rams were an expansion team in 1937. They won the NFL title in 1945 led by the passing and place kicking of rookie of the year quarterback Bob Waterfield. They packed up a couple of months after winning the championship and moved to sunny Los Angeles for 1946. In 1946 a new league was formed, the All America Football Conference, one of its members were the Cleveland Browns, they replaced the Rams as Cleveland’s team. The Browns dominated the new league winning every championship from 1946 to 1949. After 1949, three AAFC members, the Browns, 49ers, and Colts merged with the NFL. The Browns were placed in the Eastern Division for 1950, which was renamed the American Conf...

WEEK 9: Fantasy News, Notes & Positional Rankings

WEEK 9: Fantasy News, Notes & Positional Rankings Panthers, Lions, Jaguars, and Vikings have the bye Cardinals, Kevin Kolb is still slowed by a foot injury, Jon Skelton could start vs. the Rams this week…Chris Wells and Alfonso Smith have a great match up vs. the 32nd ranked run defense of the Rams, they are allowing 165.6 yards a game on the ground and 5.2 yards a carry Falcons, RB Michael Turner has rushed for 317 yards and three scores his last three games…he faces the 31st ranked run defense of the Colts, who allow more than 140 yards a game on the ground and have given up 10 rushing scores Ravens, WR Lee Evans is still not practicing, Torrey Smith will get the start Sunday against the Steelers Bills, great match up this week for RB Fred Jackson, the Jets are 25th against the run allowing almost 127 yards a game on the ground, and they have given up nine rushing scores Bears, WR Earl Bennett had been cleared to play, when he is healthy he is a favorite target of his college teammate Jay Cutler, this will diminish...

FANTASY BLITZ: Week 8 News, Notes & Positional Rankings

Plus a couple of records, and a correction
FANTASY BLITZ: Week 8 News, Notes & Positional Rankings The Saints set a team record for most points scored in a game, by compiling 62 against the hapless Colts Sunday Night, with injured Colt quarterback Peyton Manning watching from the sideline…….there is a common thread here, the most points the Saints  have ever allowed in a game is also 62, in a loss 62-7 loss to the Falcons opening day 1973 at Tulane Stadium, Archie Manning, Peyton’s Father was the Saints starting quarterback on that forgettable day; Archie completed 5 passes on thirteen attempts, and threw five interceptions…..on another note, NBC, ESPN, and the NFL Network need to check their facts, they reported Sunday night that the 62 points allowed by the Colts was a franchise record, eclipsing the record of fifty eight points the Colts allowed in a 1956 loss to the Bears, which happened to be the game in which John Unitas completed his first pro pass….but the Colts were actually worse on October 22, 1950, when they allowed 70 points, in a 70-2...

FANTASY BLITZ: News, notes & Week 7 positional rankings

FANTASY BLITZ: News, notes & Week 7 positional rankings Bills, Bengals, Patriots, Giants, Eagles, and 49’ers are on the bye this week, week nine is the last week with byes. Ravens, Ravens defense had no turnovers Sunday vs. Houston, the last regular season game they did not record a turnover was, Week 12, November 28, 2010, a 17-10 win over the Buccaneers Bears, WR Earl Bennett should return to the lineup this week against the Buccaneers Browns, With Seahawk DB Marcus Trufant on the IR with a back injury, Colt McCoy’s match up this week appears to be more favorable…he has gone 80-145-775 yards, 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions his last three games…not sure what to make of Peyton Hills this year, Montario Hardesty should at least share carries this week if not more Cowboys, This could be the Cowboys best fantasy match up of the year facing the Rams…St. Louis has allowed 11 scoring throws, and give up 161 yards a game on the ground…RB Demarco Murray will be the primary back this week with Felix Jones ...
